Lying just to the west of the great Valley of Virginia,
Hampshire County has a rich and varied history. Hampshire County is the oldest County in West Virginia.
The county lies in both West Virginia's Eastern Panhandle and Potomac Highlands regions.
Bordered by Allegany County, Maryland (north) Morgan County (northeast)
Frederick County, Virginia (east) Hardy County (south) Mineral County (west).
Routes 50 and 220 Transverse through the county.
